Optofluicdic is a relatively new interdisciplinary technology that combines optics and fluidics. It extends to both the realisation of optical effects and components and the analysis of fluids in motion. Fluids comprise liquids and gases, but also bulk solid materials that flow through pipelines and their fittings.
This technology provides diagnostic and analytical methods in which certain characteristics, components or parameters of moving fluids such as density, volume, colour, or the content of harmful substances are detected and evaluated.

Optofluidik ist eine relativ junge und interdisziplinäre Technologie, die Optik und Fluidik kombiniert. Sie steht sowohl für die Realisierung optischer Effekte und Komponenten als auch für die Analyse von bewegten Fluiden. Zu Fluiden zählen Flüssigkeiten und Gase, aber auch Schüttgüter, die durch Rohrleitungen und Armaturen fließen.
Die Technologie ermöglicht Diagnose- und Analyseverfahren, bei denen aus bewegten Fluiden bestimmte Eigenschaften, Bestandteile oder Parameter wie Dichte oder Volumen, Farbe oder Schadstoffgehalt erkannt und bewertet werden.
